Gino Sabatini Odoardi, Untitled with kneeling-stool, 2015

Site installation of mixed media

Location: Capri, Canonica in the Carthusian Monastery of San Giacomo

A wooden kneeler for prayer from the Thirties with an openable closet door, constrained by an opal thermoform fabric draped upon it. To frame this semi-liturgical installation there are twelve drawings in graphite on sheets of opaque polystyrene are embedded in white, holy shrines containing old, devotional saints. The deceptive drapery clings to the kneeler while denying access to the closet door.
It provides a "plastic" denial without words spoken.
